Holmhill was one of a trio of houses built for the daughters of the Earl of Seafield, in 1895.
As far as we know, it became a hotel in the 1930's but the property was purchased in 1983 by the Multiple Sclerosis Society for use as a holiday centre and was officially opened by HRH Prince Charles at that time. He even planted a tree which still stands in the front lawn.
The Fitzhugh family relocated to Grantown on spey in July 2003 and saw the potential of Holmhill as a luxury accommodation venue with its stunning views and huge rooms with original cornicing and features. A major re-furbishment was carried out during 2004 bringing the property up to date but retaining all those wonderful Victorian elements.
